Dr. Shannon received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC and her Doctorate of Medicine from Wake Forest University as well. It was in medical school she realized that she felt most energized when taking care of women on her OBGYN rotation. She completed her internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System. During residency, she spent extra time studying urogynecology and realized that this subspecialty allowed her to truly connect with patients about common issues with bladder, bowel, and pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. She decided to dedicate her career to these women and completed her fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery at Loyola University Hospital in Maywood, IL
