My journey to become a urologist who cares for patients with complex lower urinary tract symptoms began with an older woman with multiple sclerosis and overactive bladder. Her husband would urgently lift her out of her wheelchair to the toilet 15+ times per day, position her on the toilet, wipe her and then put her back in her chair. Watching this interaction just once made me commit to helping people with these types of conditions to prevent safety issues and improve quality of life. I am trained as a urologist and fellowship trained in neurourology and pelvic reconstructive surgery (FPMRS). I practice in Salt Lake City at the University of Utah and love caring for such a diverse patient population.
